Using basic physics and biology, this article asserts that the effectiveness of acupuncture is via the instantaneous reduction of the thickness of neuron membranes by needle pressure, which triggers the action potential. The mechanism is supported by traditional acupuncture stimulation and manipulation in clinics. It implies that the physical adjustments of the nervous system could be a natural treatment/medicine in some types of diseases and a preventive modality as well.
