Abstract
The use of the tourniquet on the lower extremity for surgery reduces postoperative pain, swelling, and bruising. The author reports the use of this technique for liposculpture. One hundred patients had liposculpture with the tourniquet. The technique is described. There was one patient with postoperative bruising, edema, and pain in one extremity when the tourniquet accidentally deflated during surgery. There were no other complications. The use of the tourniquet in lower extremity liposculpture results in quicker recovery time with no postoperative bruising, edema, and pain. The aspirated fat has no blood and can be used for fat transfer.
