Abstract
The usual method for reduction mammoplasty results in visible and sometimes hypertrophic or keloid scars and late postoperative ptosis. The author has been utilizing an axillary approach for breast reduction and describes the results in 200 patients for treatment of such conditions as hypertrophy, ptosis, asymmetry, and tumor over 4 years. The amounts of tissue resected ranged from 50 to 2,000 g. Satisfaction with the procedure was 92.5%.
