Abstract
Minimal access surgery in the fetus and neonatal infant is an emerging field that has greatly increased in scope in the last decade. Early experience suggests that as more cases are performed, the results of these operations will be equal to those of traditional open approaches with the added benefits in decreased morbidity and length of stay. Technical developments and the evolution of more sophisticated techniques will continue to aid in this process.
