Abstract
The field of fetal surgery has made important advances over the past twenty years. One of the significant changes has been the application of minimally invasive surgical techniques. Fetal surgery necessitates a multidisciplinary approach in order to provide prudent and ethical care. Consideration of maternal risks, fetal risks, pregnancy complications and subsequent reproductive health are essential in the decision process. Minimally invasive surgery has helped decrease both maternal and fetal risks, decreased negative impact on subsequent reproductive health and provides a clear advantage over open hysterotomy. This article will consider the impact of minimally invasive surgery on obstetrical issues involved in fetal surgery.
