Abstract
A new technique for thoracoscopic plication of the diaphragm is described. An 11-month-old girl who presented with repeated pneumonia and respiratory distress revealed left-sided paralytic eventration of the diaphragm after cardiac surgery. Thoracoscopic plication of the diaphragm was performed under artificial pneumothorax using CO2. The diaphragm was plicated with several rows of sutures. In view of the safety, the satisfactory postoperative course, and the good cosmetic results, this procedure is suitable for children with diaphragmatic eventration.
