Abstract

In the interest of full disclosure, CRC Press is a member of the Taylor & Francis Group, LLC, and I am a co-contributor of one section in this book.
At their best, handbooks are concise reference works that provide easily accessible in depth information on a specific topic. At their worst, a handbook can be an odd collection of eclectic technical articles without conceptual unity.
I am afraid that I found this handbook to be in the second category. The choice of articles seemed to have neither sufficient scope nor depth. Many articles would have been reasonable journal articles, but lack the tutorial aspect needed for a handbook. Instead of finding the book enlightening, I was more baffled as to the choice of items presented.
There are many other books available that I find to be more useful on this topic.
