Abstract
In many European countries, public administration is stereotyped in negative ways that have affected enrollment in public administration programs and, therefore, the field's workforce. In this article, the authors reviews recent developments in the environment of public administration, emphasizing the impact of those developments on the science of public administration. That review is followed by a discussion of the consequences of those developments for those who teach public administration. The authors' conclusion is that those in the field are confronted with a new agenda for teaching public administration.
