Abstract
The flagship congress of the European Federation of Corrosion (EFC), EUROCORR 2020 was held under the above theme from the 7th–10th September. Owing to the pandemic, this was held as a VIRTUAL conference. This major corrosion event will be reviewed in four parts over four issues, with the present instalment providing an overall summary, giving titles and access to the plenary lectures, and covering technical sessions on corrosion mechanisms, methods and modelling, corrosion reliability of electronic materials and devices, cathodic protection and cathodic protection in the marine environment, corrosion in oil and gas production, corrosion in the refinery and petrochemistry industry and finally corrosion control in low carbon energy technologies particularly solar.
