Abstract
To solve the problem of chromium pollution in electrolytic manganese industry, a novel Ti conversion coating for electrolytic manganese was found to improve its anti-corrosion property. The excellent Ti conversion coating was formed on manganese surface under the optimized conditions of Ti4+ concentration: 0.01 mol L−1, H2SO4 concentration: 4.60 g L−1, H2O2 concentration: 60 ml L−1 and immersion time: 20 s. The results of the electrochemical test exhibited that the Ti conversion coating can work well in inhibiting the Mn from corrosion, and the corrosion current density was obviously dropped from 3.52×10−4 to 7.97×10−7 A·cm−2. The results of XPS showed that the main composition of the conversion coating was MnO2, Mn2O3 and TiO2, and the formation mechanism of the Ti conversion coating was revealed.
