Abstract

Auspsyc is a private email list open to Australasian psychiatrists, registrars and psychiatric medical officers. It was started in 2001 by the RANZCP Federal Treasurer, John Buchanan, and currently has 250 members, who share information and debate a variety of topics. It averages 100–150 emails a month. It is particularly attractive as a tribal venue for those psychiatrists who find it hard to meet and communicate with colleagues due to geography or other commitments. Many of the members of Auspsyc have never met in person. This symposium will be an opportunity to meet and engage in a panel lead discussion with some of the more prolific contributors to Auspsyc, and continue some debates ‘in the flesh’.
