Abstract
By addition of (THF)3LiSi(SnMe3)3 to the appropriate metal chloride reagent, the complexes Cp*(PMe3)2RuSi(SnMe3)3(1,Cp* = η5 – C5Me5) and (dcpe)Pt[Si(SnMe3)3] Cl(2, dcpe = Cy2PCH2CH2Pcy2) have been prepared and structurally characterized. Structural parameters for complex 1 indicate that it is quite sterically congested. Complex 2, which is less sterically hindered, undergoes rearrangement in refluxing benzene to the complex (dcpe)Pt[Si(SnMe3)2Cl](SnMe3) (3). Single-crystal data are as follows: (l), monoclinic, P21/n, with a = 10.360 (3) Å, b = 21.127 (5) Å, c = 17.200 (4) Å, β = 97.59 (2)°, V = 3731 (2) Å, Z = 4, d(ca1cd) = 1.616 gcm−1, 3575 observed rsflections, and R = 3.83%(RW= 4.95%); (2), monoclinic, C2/c, with a = 39.09 (2) Å, b = 10.314 (4) Å, c = 22.904 (10) Å, β = 95.42 (4)°, V = 9193 (7) Å3, Z= 8, d(ca1cd) = 1.694 gcm−1, 4258 observed reflections, and R = 4.13%(Rw = 5.67%).
