The First Structural Characterization of a Five Coordinate Aluminum Trichloride-Bidentate Tertiary Amine Adduct,Trichloro(1,4-dimethylpiperazine) aluminum (III)

Abstract

Treatment of 1,4-dimethylpiperazine with AlCl₃ affords the title compound, the X-ray crystal structure of which shows it to be a chelate complex with a trigonal bipyramidal aluminum center having one axial and two equatorial chloride ligands.
