Abstract
Design criteria for a NSE spectrometer at a LPSS are discussed. First results of Monte Carlo simulations, which were performed to quantify the performance of the instrument in typical quasielastic experiments on soft matter samples, are presented. Typical quasielastic scattering functions in the small wave number range for this kind of samples lead to convenient matching between the wavelength dependence of the instrument parameters and the wave number dependence of the scattering.
