Abstract
Recent theoretical and experimental progress on the development of new techniques for measuring the neutron electric dipole moment and neutron lifetime, and for producing ultracold neutrons in general, is reviewed, with emphasis on the electric dipole moment work. The basic idea is to produce and store ultracold neutrons in a superfluid 4He bath which has been doped with a low concentration of polarized 3He which serves as an ultracold neutron polarizer, analyzer, and magnetometer.
