Abstract
The new Australian replacement research reactor will become operational in 2006. Amongst the first suite of eight instruments accessible to international users is a diffractometer dedicated to stress-related problems of the scientific community and industry. The basic features and criteria of the instrumental design are presented. The study shows that the instrument will belong to the best instruments world-wide especially designed for these kinds of problems.
