Abstract

ScholarOne's Manuscript Central site is up and running. Our publisher, Informa HealthCare, is managing the site on behalf of ScholarOne and is working hard to resolve the minor teething troubles identified by ourselves and the readership. We are grateful for your patience over the past few months and for working with us to support the transition to a more automated and transparent manuscript handling process.
When we took over the Editorial roles in December 2007, new guidelines were issued to authors. The changes to the old guidelines included submission length, font style and referencing style. As a result of the inevitably variable time from submission to print, we currently have 2 styles of paper progressing through production; those submitted prior to Manuscript Central and those submitted after. Due to this we will be publishing manuscripts that vary in style. All manuscripts submitted through the new system will conform to the new guidelines, whereas manuscripts submitted through the previous system conform to the preceding guidelines. Rest assured these mixed issues are only temporary and they mark the transition from one system to the other.
We currently have a small group of dedicated reviewers and are always looking for new reviewers to join our pool. This increase would assist in a quicker turn-around of papers, thus being beneficial to both authors and the journal alike.
Interested? We are seeking new reviewers with relevant research experience, a solid understanding of scientific process, and an interest in prosthetics, orthotics and assistive devices. We are particularly looking for reviewers outside of the Prosthetics & Orthotics communities to broaden the journal s perspective on emerging research. If you would be willing to volunteer your time to review manuscripts then we warmly invite you to open a reviewer account by going to http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/tpoi using the ‘Create Account' tab on the right hand corner of the screen or by clicking on the hyperlink ‘create an account'.
Please indicate your field of expertise. Guidelines for reviewers are being developed to assist those who are less experienced in reviewing manuscripts but would like to develop their skills. Guidelines will be placed onto the journal s website once they are available.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
