Abstract

Dear Sir,
I read the article “Skew flap technique in trans-tibial amputation” by S. K. Jain in the December 2005 issue of Prosthetics and Orthotics International with interest.
I would like to draw the author's attention to very similar articles, though with a slight difference in emphasis, which were published in the British Journal of Surgery (Jain et al. 1994) and in the Journal of Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (Jain et al. 1995).
I was rather surprised and disappointed that neither the author nor apparently the reviewer of the manuscript acknowledged these publications which described a very similar technique for trans-tibial amputations but has a slightly longer medial based flap.
