Abstract
Freedom of speech is a relative concept in Northern Ireland. Statements made by public figures have to be filtered through the knowledge that every nuance will be examined for fault by opponents and supporters alike. 'Fault' being anything vaguely threatening to the 'other side', or Indicative of a 'sell out' for 'our' cause.
