Abstract
The Palestinian Journalists Union has about 200 members. Since the start of the intifada, over 50 of them have been detained and eight deported. There are four daily papers, four weeklies and two monthlies. Distribution is estimated at a mere 54,000 copies and, in the end, who is interested in reading a Palestinian newspaper? Only the censor. The people in the Occupied Territories know in advance that they will find nothing of interest. All that is left are biographies of movie stars.
