Abstract
The following speech was made by the Archbishop of Prague, Cardinal František Tomášek on 24 June 1983 at the ‘World Assembly for Peace and Life’ held in Prague. The speech was not published in Czechoslovakia – obviously not only because the Cardinal mentioned religious orders which have been illegal since 13 April 1950, but mainly because of its whole burden, stressing not peace alone, but peace and freedom. The address is circulating in Czechoslovakia in samizdat form.
