Abstract

The Karamanlis government has abolished the colonels restrictive press legislation and promised a comprehensive new law. But despite a draft having been ready for nearly two years the bill has still not been presented in Parliament. Robert McDonald who is preparing a study of the Greek press under the colonels and after for the Writers and Scholars Educational Trust has acquired a copy of the draft law and in this article presents a summary, together with the background to the delay in its presentation.
