Abstract
On 26 April 1976, the fifty-one-year-old Bogatyrev was brutally attacked by unknown persons outside the entrance to his apartment in Moscow. Found unconscious in a pool of blood, with his skull broken by some heavy metal object, he was transferred to a hospital, where he remained, most of the time without regaining consciousness, until 17 June when he died.
