Abstract
The problems created by the policy of apartheid for the theatre in South Africa are discussed by the playwright, actor and producer Athol Fugard in this interview with Michael Coveney, Assistant Editor of Plays and Players (November 1973).
Athol Fugard was in London to produce his
play Sizwe Bansi Is Dead, which he had written in collaboration with the two actors taking part in it, John Kani and Winston Ntshona, and which has been very well received both at The Theatre Upstairs in London and on its tour of the provinces in November and December.
