Abstract
Six months after the coup which was responsible for the overthrow of the government of President Salvador Allende Gossens and for the introduction of military rule in Chile, an Englishman who was among the thousands of detainees in the Santiago Sports Stadium writes about the consequences of the coup for everyday life in the country, as well as for Chilean intellectuals and universities.
