Analysis of flow and heat transfer characteristics of blast furnace heating gas

Abstract

The quality of furnace heating is one of the main limiting factors that determine the service life of a blast furnace (BF) after new construction or overhaul. In this paper, based on the theory of heat transfer, the 3D-CFD/FEM technology (Three-dimensional-Computational Fluid Dynamics/Finite Element Method) is used to establish a finite element model of the gas flow characteristics of the hearth and the furnace bottom. The close relationship between the target of modern high-quality furnace heating and the heat transfer characteristics of the furnace lining structure is closely analysed, and the quantitative relationship between operating factors (such as furnace gas temperature, furnace air volume, and cooling water flow rate) and the high-quality target of furnace heating is presented, and its corresponding mathematical models are built too. This research which has an important engineering application value provides a theoretical basis for scientifically formulating a furnace heating system of the BF.
