Abstract
Edge burning of the 550 m2 sintering machine is a serious problem in Shougang Jingtang Iron and Steel Corp. To solve this problem, a lot of studies have been carried out, such as air flow simulation of the windbox and analyses on the grid section temperature and exhaust gas temperature. When 600 mm guide plates were added mounted on both sides of windboxes No. 15–No. 27 of sintering machine No.2 of Jingtang, the highest temperature decreased from 219–305°C to 201–227°C, and the temperature difference between the lower edge of the windbox and the central part shrank from 70°C to about only 30°C. After the optimisation, the service life of the grates increased from 3 months to more than 6 months, the drum index and energy consumption index of the sinter were improved, and the process energy consumption was reduced by 2 kgce t–1.
