The rolling contact fatigue is commonly seen in industrial applications. Studies mainly focus on fatigue evolution caused by heat treatment. However, the combined machining includes thermal-mechanical coupling and transformation. The generated residual stress can be another factor to decide contact fatigue. A sequent study is conducted to investigate the influence of residual stress on contact fatigue after prestress grinding hardening. To figure out the rolling crack initiation and propagation on residual stress surface, a united calculation combined with finite element method and analytic method is proposed. Based on the above analysis, the rolling contact fatigue can be adjusted by controlling the initial residual stress of machining surface, which is meaningful for surface anti-fatigue manufacturing with longer life span requirements.
