Abstract
In an article in Urban Studies, June 1967, E. M. Sigsworth and R. K. Wilkinson criticise what are claimed to be arguments taken from the present author's book, The Economics of Housing, on the choice for local authorities between renovating or rebuilding decrepit dwellings. The criticisms are grouped under the heads of economic, social and organisational and administrative factors. These criticisms are answered in turn. In many cases it is argued that the views criticised were not those advanced by the author. In other instances, the criticisms are shown to be irrelevant.
