Abstract

A case of duplicate publication has been brought to the attention of the Editor of the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Psychiatry, the Editor of Australasian Psychiatry, the current publisher of the journals (Informa Healthcare–Taylor & Francis) and the former publisher (Blackwell Publishing, now Wiley Blackwell) when the articles were published. The article, titled “Identifying marginal housing for people with a mental illness living in rural and regional areas”, was originally published in Australasian Psychiatry in March 2004 [1], and was republished in November 2005 in the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Psychiatry [2]. The authors were not responsible for the duplicate publication, unlike the majority of cases of dual/duplicate publication that have been reported in the literature. Rather, it would appear that an administrative error by the previous publisher caused the inadvertent republication. It was intended that a separate paper by the same author group that had been accepted for publication in the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Psychiatry be published in November 2005, but this paper was substituted by the earlier publication in Australasian Psychiatry. The paper that was not published in November 2005 is now published in the present issue of the journal [3]and the duplicated article has been retracted from the November 2005 online issue.
