The structure of rents of space and land within a central business district (CBD) is empirically analyzed on the basis of a simple equilibrium concept in the space and land markets. The land-rent and space-rent functions are set up in a recursive way. Two alternative models, of linear and log-linear form, are applied to the data of the CBD in Sendai City in Japan for three different years.
