Within the framework of a dynamic demoeconomic model the dominant role of job creation and migration for regional development is examined. The model is formulated by means of continuous dynamic equations for which an analytical solution is available for one region. On the basis of the solution the time paths of the model variables are specified. Numerical examples show the impact of the theoretical issues involved. The extension to two or more regions is discussed, which provides a comparison with models developed by Keyfitz and Rogers.
