Abstract

Global Spine Journal is rapidly growing and expanding and with this growth comes change. The journal is really starting to take off. There has been a huge increase in the number of high-quality submissions that GSJ is receiving every single day, which is very exciting. The journal has also grown and changed a lot in the past year. So far in 2015 we have added a new Managing Editor, added two new Deputy Editors, and have incorporated EBSJ as GSJ's special issues. GSJ already filled up all of its issues in 2015 very early on this year, and we are already filling into the beginning of 2016. The Editorial Board is very excited about the journal's expansion and we look forward to the continued increase of submissions and growth for GSJ.
Due to the increase of high-quality submissions, the Editorial Board has had to make changes to the structure of the journals—particularly in regards to case reports. All of the case reports already accepted and currently in production will now be appearing online only, beginning with this issue. These case reports will still be considered part of a specific issue, but the full text will be featured online only. However, we will include the abstracts in the printed versions along with the links where the full version can be found online.
GSJ is also no longer accepting any new case report submissions. We will publish the remaining case reports that have already been accepted through the end of 2016 and then once all of those are published, we will no longer feature any more case reports. Because of these changes, we will be able to accommodate the influx of Original Research and Review submissions by increasing the amount of both article types per issue. GSJ does recognize that case reports are important contributions and do have the ability to change the face of medicine, so we don't want to eliminate them completely. Thus, case reports will still be published and can be submitted to Evidence-Based Spine-Care Journal (EBSJ)—GSJ's special issues, which publish twice a year. However, EBSJ will only be accepting a very small amount of the most cutting edge, game changing, and controversial case reports.
The Editorial Board would also like to say thank you to all of our authors. We truly value your excellent and high-quality submissions to the journal, and without all of you, we would not be able to exist. We encourage all of our authors to continue to submit their high-quality Original Research and Review articles to GSJ as we are looking to fill the issues with those two article types. We look forward to more excellent submissions in the future.
