Abstract
A standard screening series of allergens to test the young and the old was evaluated for irritancy. No irritant reactions were encountered in the young, and the frequency of irritant reactions in the elderly approximated that of the middle-aged group (20 to 65 years old). These findings held true even though several marginal irritant compounds were used from 1984 to 1985.
