I am sitting on the pier on Palm Island, north Queensland. I look across a jewelled sea and beautiful blue sky. I see luxurious green foliage and a golden sandy beach. I smell the freshness of the monsoonal rains. Kids of all shapes and sizes splash in the waters around me.
