Thank you for the opportunity to respond to the letter from Professor Beaumont. As noted in the report, the need to limit the survey to four disorders was a disappointment for us all. Unfortunately, the funding available necessitated this approach. Given the opportunity, we certainly would have focused on a broader range of childhood disorders using multiple informants.
We are currently undertaking further analysis of the data obtained in the survey. This will include analyses which examine the relationship between mental health problems and social disadvantage experienced by children in the community.
