Abstract

I write this note on returning from the 10th Congress of the International Headache Society. A wonderful array of research and important clinical observations set against the backdrop of the ‘City that never sleeps’.
To keep abreast with a rapidly developing field the journal needs to handle manuscripts more efficiently. To this end we introduced from 1 July 2001 a completely electronic submission and tracking system for manuscripts (http://cephalalgia.manuscriptcentral.com/). At this URL you can login and create an author account, submit your paper and follow its progress from any internet enabled computer. You can still submit in the traditional way but we do feel that electronic submission is the way of the future. I hope electronic submission can address an area of great concern to me, the delays we have had in turning manuscripts around. Likewise for referees and the Associate Editors we shall be able to deliver materials rapidly and without the vagueness of postal systems.
In a similar electronic vein, watch for an announcement for completely on-line access to the journal for all IHS members with all issues from the first, again available to you at any internet enabled computer. The publishers will contact members directly to offer this additional value that I hope you will find useful.
Thank you for continuing to send us your material, our journal is only as good as your submissions and our referees and editors' efforts.
