Abstract
Clinical program development, practice integration, and early career planning are often key activities for pediatric psychologists entering academia as clinical faculty. As the 2015 recipient of the Division 54 Carolyn S. Schroeder Award for Clinical Practice, I discuss my early career experiences developing an innovative, interdisciplinary epilepsy psychosocial service. I consider shared vision, team feedback, development of a clinical research database, and close professional relationships through collaborations and effective mentorship critical factors to successful program development and academic planning. I discuss barriers encountered, solutions identified for successful practice implementation and integration, and ideas for reaching both professional academic, personal goals and provide recommendations.
