Erratum in Wilderness Environ Med. 29/1

The abstract of the following article contained an error.

Forrester JA, Weiser TG, Forrester JD. An update on fatalities due to venomous and nonvenomous animals in the United States (2008–2015). Wilderness Environ Med. 2018;29(1):36–44.

While the text in the body of the article is correct, an incorrect number appeared in the results section of the abstract, and it was not clarified that the number corresponded to annual deaths. The original sentence is:

“There were 1610 animal-related fatalities, with the majority from nonvenomous animals (2.8 deaths per 10 million persons).”

The revised sentence (changes underlined) is:

“There were 1610 animal-related fatalities, with the majority from nonvenomous animals (4.8 deaths per 10 million persons annually).”
