Snowy owl (Bubo scandiacus). Normally well adapted for life in the Artic or northern circumpolar region, the snowy owl is known to be a nomadic bird and may relocate for several reasons, mostly secondary to availability of prey species. This photograph was taken on the ice dunes at Presque Isle State Park along the shores of Lake Erie, January 11, 2015. Photograph by Frank Karle III, DO.
