The editors wish to correct an error in “Performance-Enhancing Drugs - Commentaries” (Wilderness Environ Med. 2012;23:207–211). The statement “Both acetazolamide and dexamethasone are currently classified as performance-enhancing drugs by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA)” is incorrect—acetazolamide is banned by WADA because its diuretic properties assist in the excretion of other performance-enhancing drugs, not because it has performance enhancing properties per se. We apologize for any confusion this misclassification may have caused.
