In Hailes WS, Cuddy JS, Slivka DS, et al, “Water Turnover and Core Temperature on Mount Rainier” (Wilderness Environ Medicine 2012;23:255–259), the authors incorrectly state a “minimum core temperature [of] −1.0°C” in their description of study conditions. A core temperature of −1.0°C is incompatible with life. The sentence should read: “Mean ambient temperature during this initial 8 hours of ascent was 4.4 +/− 0.7°C, maximum ambient temperature was 10.5°C, and minimum ambient temperature was −1.0°C.”
