Burchell's zebras (Equus burchellii) are the most common species of zebra found in Africa. Although nervous and jumpy, zebras are very sociable and are generally found in large herds with other herbivores. The Southern African Burchell's zebra lacks the stripes on the lower legs and belly and has shadow stripes on the body. Males and females look alike, but the males are taller. Bruchell's zebras have adapted to a broad range of grassland, including wooded savannas and tall grasses. © Peter Kummerfeldt (http://outdoorsafe.com/read/).
