Abstract

“The 2005 JALA Reader's Choice Award program gives every ALA member the opportunity to cast one vote for his or her favorite JALA article.”
True to its mission, the Association for Laboratory Automation (ALA) actively encourages and fosters the advancement of technology in today's scientific laboratories. This journal is just one example of how ALA works hard to facilitate the exchange of useful ideas and information among like-minded professionals. In the course of a year, the good work of literally hundreds of accomplished scientists is shared with readers across the United States and around the globe. Those who author scientific papers do so for a number of personal and professional reasons, and our appreciation for their contributions knows no end. Without them, there would be no JALA.
Now, ALA members can express their own appreciation for the efforts of JALA authors. The 2005 JALA Reader's Choice Award program gives every ALA member the opportunity to cast one vote for his or her favorite JALA article. Members can make their choice from the many original reports, technical briefs, JALA tutorials, and technology reviews that appear in the February, April, June, August, October, and December issues of JALA (JALA 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, 10.4, 10.5, and 10.6).
Voting will begin in early November and will continue through January 20, 2006, via the soon-to-be-launched ALA Member Center at http://labautomation.org. Voting will be restricted to ALA Members only, and each member will be able to cast one vote.
The winning author(s) will be announced during the “Reception in the Exhibit Hall Celebrating JALA Authors” on Tuesday, January 24, at LabAutomation2006 in Palm Springs, CA. Free copies of the winning paper will be distributed to LabAutomation2006 attendees from the ALA Member Center on the exhibit floor, and will be showcased in the ALA Member Center online throughout 2006. The winning author(s) will receive a framed certificate and a special collection of ALA and JALA souvenir merchandise.
Let your voice be heard! Get online and cast your vote before January 20, 2006, but remember, the December issue of JALA mails in late December, and the papers published in it will be eligible for your vote too.
Sincerely,
