Abstract
Leadership coaching has gained in use and popularity as a leadership development tool used both within and outside the context of an organization. At the heart of the coaching process is the coaching relationship and the critical coaching skills of powerful questioning and active listening. One of the most popular coaching models within which these skills serve as a cornerstone is the GROW model, which stands for Goal–Reality–Options–Will. The following teaching exercise seeks to provide students with skill practice in designing powerful questions and recognizing elements of the GROW model of coaching.
