Abstract
Workers, both paid employees and volunteers, contribute in multiple ways to an organization's output, its culture, and its internal environment. Employees also play a critical role in the organization's impact upon its community. Career development involves the full understanding of worker contributions to the organization, as well as their impact upon internal and external stakeholders. A full view of job content, including worker knowledge, skills and attitudes, as well as a perspective on job expectations, can provide a robust view of life within a workplace, and the contribution of employees at all levels. This short case presents an opportunity for planned assessment of an organizational worker situation with ramifications at various stakeholder levels. Job content, career development, organizational outcomes, and change readiness can be explored to provide a deeper understanding of human resource development from a practical perspective.
